Here come the Eye-comic cartoons
Are you a 90’s kid, just like me? And did you grow up watching the coolest cartoons of our times? Then, you would understand when I say I miss Fred Flintstone’s “yaba daba dooo”, Power-puff girls beating up goons, DeeDee annoying Dexter, Johnny Bravo wooing the girls, and Scooby Doo solving a mystery?
Honestly, the cartoon network has completely changed today and somewhere lost that charm, but I still think the cartoons today are not bad. In fact, more cooler with intervention of gadgets for the smart age kids. I feel animations are best when people of any age can enjoy them. And that’s why Tom and Jerry is still so popular among all age groups.
But do you have an idea about what are the other most popular cartoons of today? Cartoons for most children nowadays mean Doraemon, Chhota Bheem, Sponge Bob and Ninja Hathori. Let me take you through some of the popular ones and since I am a fan of fashionable eyewear, how can I miss out on that!
Spongebob Squarepants is a cute-looking sea sponge, who is fun loving and hyperactive. He picks some particular things for specific activities, like when he’s working, he puts on his hat and holds a spatula. And when he goes jelly fishing, he grabs his net and put on these big nerdy eyeglasses with thick square frames, so that the jellyfish doesn’t sting him in the eye. Well, I think he looks quite a hipster in those bold frames, making his character stand out.
What do you say?
Japanese cartoons are taking over in India, and one such show is Doraemon.
Basically, Doraemon is a cat-like robot who has comeback from 22nd century to help a boy named ‘Nobita’. Nobita’s character is full of flaws – he is lazy, uncoordinated, dim-witted, unlucky and bad at sports. But what grabbed my attention are his big round eyeglasses, which are an important part of Nobita’s personality. He pair up his red/yellow shirt and blue shorts with these round rimless glasses, which go right with his careless personality.
Ninja Hathori is another production from the makers of Doraemon, based on similar grounds. This Little Ninja, called Hattori befriends with an average kid, Kenichi to help him with his struggles. The boy Kenichi is very stubborn and lazy, just like Nobita. But what separates him is, unlike Nobita he wear rimless rectangular eyeglasses with sleek temples and a cap with his name initial.
I remember when Rowan Atkinson’s Mr. Bean made a jump to an animated walking bumbler, not just kids but even the youngsters enjoyed it.
The hilarious cartoon series showed two other characters, his landlady and girlfriend, who added to the laughter riot. I was again fascinated by his landlady’s cat-eye frames. The old lady with cat-eye glasses was also a cat lover! Interesting, eh! 🙂
Horrid Henry is among those cartoons which I particularly enjoy watching in ‘Hindi’. The funny punches hit more so when, on Henry’s mischievous ways, his mom says “Thappad padega Henry”! That reminds me of my childhood.
Speaking of his mom, who wear small rimless round eyeglasses reminds me those of John Lennon’s T-Shades. Don’t you think so?
And now it’s time to move on to the iconic cartoon sunglasses.
Codename: Kids Next Door is another fun show, which opens up the adventures of five eager, yet bumbling, 10-year-olds who join hands against adulthood to fight for the right to enjoy all the fun things. What’s interesting about them is each kid has his own distinct identity, skills and personality.
If you’ve ever noticed, the leader of this group Nigel Uno, a.k.a Numbah One, always wears his trademark black wraparound sunglasses. And Hoagie P. Gilligan Jr., a.k.a. Numbuh Two, wears these goggles all the time as he loves airplanes and is expert in building all kinds of cool flying machines.
Well, that was all for this time. We’ll bring some more cartoons with their stylish eyewear as and when I spot them. And I am sure you will also be looking at their eyewear styles now onwards. 🙂
