Celebrating World Optometry Day 2024

Eye health is a major health concern globally, and for us at Lenskart, it is our purpose to positively transform the way people see and experience the world.

When it comes to eye tests, our Optometrists are one of the main pillars who contribute to our mission of #VisionForBillion with their inspiring efforts.

Meet Arpita Pramanik, from Kolkata currently working at our Santoshpur store.

Arpita Pramanik at Lenskart

Arpita holds a diploma in Optometry and 3 years of experience at Nil Ratan Sirkar Medical College and Hospital. She’s been a Lenskartian for the last 1.5 years. As an optometrist, she believes that conducting eye tests and ensuring proper eye care is a necessity. ‘80% of all information and interaction is influenced by what we see’, so for Arpita, customers’ eye health is a priority.

How did you decide to join Lenskart?

During the interview process, I got to know of Lenskart’s values, and one thing that stayed with me was ‘10x Thinking’. That’s when I knew I had arrived at the right place to work and create an impact. The environment is welcoming, and there are many career growth opportunities. These factors influenced my decision to start at Lenskart, and step up in my career.

What’s your story of #CustomerObsession?

I recollect an incident where an elderly woman approached me at the store, who did not have the necessary means of life and was seeking public aid. At that moment I noticed that her eyes were red and watery, so I checked with her and decided to conduct an eye test. The results revealed that her eye power was alarmingly high, making it challenging for her to function normally each day. I approached my manager with the thought that we could pool in our resources and place an order for her.

While most of our days are generally spent with conventional customers, this was a story that left an indelible mark as I was able to make a difference in the life of someone truly in need.

How do you aid customers towards better eye health?

I take up the opportunity to educate them about the strain modern lifestyle puts on their eyes. The prolonged use of digital devices or extended working hours can lead to fatigue, wherein I suggest our anti-glare or blue cut lenses as per their requirement.

Along with general awareness, my aim is to educate our customers specifically about myopia as well. I make an effort for them to be aware of its effects and assist them by offering high-quality lenses to manage the condition effectively. My one tip for better eye care would be routine checkups and following eye cleaning guidelines. These practices are necessary for every individual. By empowering our customers with knowledge and personalized recommendations, we contribute to their overall well-being and comfort.

What message would you like to share on World Optometry Day?

Clear vision empowers you to reach your goals. Maintain this clarity and vision in the long run with the right steps towards better eye health.

As we celebrate World Optometry Day, let’s honor the invaluable contributions of optometrists like Arpita Pramanik. Let’s embrace eye care and strive for a future where everyone can see the world with clarity and vision.
