5 Indian Royals who are rocking the eyewear

We’ve all had a little sneak peek into the lives of the Royalty through media. All of us have fancied about the luxuries and limelight they enjoy and have lived it in words of the author. That feeling would come back while roaming around the corridors of the forts.


And not to forget, their elite possessions have been the talk of the town ever since. From diamond studded cars to diamond being used as paperweight (yes! Mir Osman Ali Khan Siddiqi, Nizam of the Princely State of Hyderabad used a diamond worth $200 million as a paperweight), everything is awe-inspiring.


The stories that surround the Rajas, Maharajas, Nawabs and their Begums are legendary. More legendary are their eyewear! After all, they are amongst the graceful people and best dressers who are always spotted with exceptional eyewear, every single time!

1) Shri Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia


He belongs to the Royal family of the Marathas that ruled Gwalior in 17th and 18th century. A Harvard and Stanford graduate, the King is an active politician and also heads Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association. Often seen working for the welfare of humanity, he updates his fashion regularly and looks elegantly Royal all the time. He is often seen wearing Aviators; gives us some serious dress-up goals!

2) Prince Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar


Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar is the descendant of 1,500-year-old House of Mewar in Udaipur. Known for his selfless and compassionate nature, the prince exudes a strong and athletic personality. Awarded in college with ‘Colours’ for excelling in cricket, he continues the family tradition of love for cricket. He is also the President of Udaipur District Cricket Association. Often seen donning his Aviators, the suave prince also has a passion for photography and gardening.

3) Maharaja Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar


The scion of the Wadiyar dynasty and grandson of Princess Gayatri Devi, this young man is the 27th and present Maharaja of Mysore. He owns 15 luxury cars, a huge collection of expensive watches and is frequently seen sporting his black rectangular spectacles.
The look says it all – strong, confident, thoughtful and ready to take on the world

4) Raja Syed Muzaffar Ali


From the noble family of Kotwara, the title of Raja was passed on by his father in 1991. An influential film maker, fashion designer, painter, poet and architect, he lives to prove that power is not about ranks, but about service to the mankind. A multi-talented king he is.
You’ll often see him wearing his rectangular spectacles, flaunting the artistic and creative look, lost in his world creating wonders being authoritative at the same time.

5) Maharaja Gaj Singh II


Maharaja Gaj Singh is the 38th successor of one of the country’s oldest house, the Rathores. Educated at Eton and Oxford, he owns the world’s largest residence, Umaid Bhawan, Mehrangarh fort and five other palaces.
Besides his penchant for Polo, he is also popular for his love for vintage cars. He is usually spotted with his navigator sunglasses; seems like the perfect choice for his personality.

Royalty is personification of elegance! Their choice of eyewear shows us the charm of the old world blending with the modern times.
